July 13, 2009 in pictures

Dylan and I left yesterday, bound for SLC. I had worked the three previous nights before and had gotten my four hours of sleep in as we packed in the van and left. We left Taylor and Jared with my parents for a sleep over. And although the A/C in the van is not working and the average for the trip was 87 degrees, the decapitated deer on the side of the road on the Malad Pass was gruesome, and Dylan was crying about being stuck in jail forever, we made it to SLC fairly unscathed. I noticed that my phone quit working on the trip down and despite all the time I've spent in communication with Verizon, it is still unfunctional. Thus, if you have attempted a call or a text and I have not replied, please do not be offended. I'm just hating my phone right now.
When we woke up this morning, we called Primary Children's to find out we had been bumped to a 2 PM admission time. And although I thought about how we could have stayed at home one more night, it turned out to be quite good. We went and spent a couple of hours on Temple Square. I think it was really good for the both of us to be out in the sun and fresh air on a beautiful day, because it won't happen again for awhile.

Dylan in front of the big man...

A mother/son shot.

Dylan on the second floor of the Joseph Smith Memorial Building. He loved the 'softy' railing.

How often do you get a picture like this!?!

Of course he couldn't resist the water fountains on the 10th floor.

Not loving life so much right now... His less than happy face after 21 leads were placed on his head. They would apply a sandy cleaner to his head. Followed with the lead with a conductive paste, covered by a 2x2 piece of gauze that was then drown in a acetone based super glue. Talk about getting high. PEE-EWE...They would dry the super glue with oxygen from their oxygen tubing. I'm pretty sure his hair will be much shorter the next time you see him.

21 leads ALL over his head.
Then bound in gauze and tape. Why didn't we think of this for halloween!?!

A much happier kid after 2 1/2 movies, playing nerf basketball, winning Connect 4 and Go Fish, and his fav...getting a new truck from 'The Happy Factory.' It all almost makes up for getting a hep-lock.

His order for this long term EEG is for 6-8 days with an MRI to follow when he is done. So I am sure we are going to have a GREAT week at resort PCMC. I sooo appreciate everyones concern, love and support. There are not words to describe what it means when others care about you and your family.

So stay tuned. With no phone, the Internet is my connection to you all. I'm Face booking a ton, perhaps too much. I hope ya'll are patient with me, and

THANK YOU

again.

Happy 4th of July ! ! ! ! !

I worked on the night of the 3rd of July which made me wiped out on the 4th before it even began. So when we went to the parade, I didn't stay for the WHOLE thing...

Taylor and Jared ready to grab all they can!!!

Jared, aka The Tasmanian Devil...

The planes in formation, doing a fly-by.

The GINORMUS shopping cart...

My brother and his fiance...

My brother Matt (in the blue shorts). He works at a local gas station. One of his jobs is to help wash cars and one of the best (if not THE best) parts of the parade is when all of these guys come marching down the street in drill team formation, doing car washing motions as their leader (boss) leads the formation to the song "At The Car Wash" by Rose Royce. It is a HUGE hit, every year!!!

And MARCH 2-3-4

Time to kick it boys!!!

Matt topping off the pyramid. Way to go BRO!!!

Dylan vs. The Nasty Tonsils

Dylan got his tonsils out on Thurs. (July 2, 2009) For as much as he HATES hospitals, nurses and doctors, he really did a fantastic job. He even did fairly well with the IV. Thank You to the nursing staff, especially to Jenny, Jolyn, and Nicole. You were great!!!

The last smile we would see for awhile!!!

Just out from recovery...

Grandma Thurber trying to coax him to drink some juice.

What a mean mom I am for doing this to him so close to the 4th of July.

He had a little bit more post-op bleeding that we would have liked. Today is the first day that he has been up and a round, more of what I'm used to seeing in him.

Relay for Life....

I recently participated in the RELAY FOR LIFE campaign, (June 26, 2009) put on in association with the American Cancer Society. It consisted of walking all around the local high school track...ALL NITE LONG ! ! ! ! Granted, I didn't walk all night, I didn't even show up until 10:30PM, but I did walk altogether for about four hours. The theme was a night at the movies. My team

we were called the PINK LADIES...Shelley Chambers did an A-MAZE-ING job decorating our area. (She is super creative! ! ! )

This was one of many luminaries lit for out dear Senny, an 8 year old that lost her very courageous battle with cancer.

Our fearless leader, Constance Haworth. This INCREDIBLE woman battled it out at girls camp, and came home in time to be up yet another night for this great cause. Constance, I truly admire you for SOOOO MANY THINGS. THANK YOU for inviting me to be part or your team and part of this great cause.

Constance and Stacey Jensen doing laps. (When Jeff saw this picture he said "Who is that?" I said it was Stacey. He said "It doesn't look like Stacey!!!") It had been raining!!!

Getting Stacey's better side.

Each team took turns doing a game during the night. Our turn was at 2AM when Connie Dunn broke out her parachute and kept us laughing!!!

Shelley, I'm sorry I didn't get a better picture of you, that parachute was just too much for my camera.

Lisa Marie Jensen with great smile.

Emily Dayley (left) and Jaci Sanderson, trying to stay warm...and awake!!!

Megan Haworth co-operating with me!!!

Austin (left) and Kim Snook (Senny's Mom) in it for the long haul!!!

Austin with the pink band...(Don't worry Austin, real men wear pink)

Austin without the pink band...with his hair still up :)

I think the late night and the cold weather is getting to Emily.

And of course a great butt shot for the butt end.

Our team goal was to raise $1400 for the American Cancer Society. We made well over $1500. We all had a great time. I hope they will invite me to do it again. Next years theme is superhero's. Thanks ladies for the memories!!!

I think I can...I think I can...

Who in the world thought up the term "Summer Vacation!?!" Granted, it is a vacation for the kids from school. But that is where it ends. Is there anyone else out there who tries to cram as much as they can into these 3 short months, because you cannot justify it quiet as well during the school year. To say that I've been feeling overwhelmed would be stating a gross understatement. June has been a little nuts and July is looking to be flat out HELLACIOUS!! But I had a good friend remind me today that although my plate has been very full, I do keep adding to it, and I compromise another area of life to make up for it. I was reminded that I've done hard things before. I know that it will all be alright. I just have to ride the wave. I don't know that I thought twice about Dylan's 2nd brain surgery then having Jared three weeks later. Perhaps it just seems like so much more now because I'm 'burned out.' I worked last night, but only got a three hour nap before I had to start running again. If anyone has any tips to being resilient, or have a plethora of coping skills, I'd LOVE to hear from you!!!! But don't worry, I'm going to blog about it all our upcoming adventures and bring it to you every step of the way.
I need someone to enjoy this with me!!!!

A real vacation someday......right!?!
